Floyd Mayweather junior thinks Timothy Bradley will be though for Manny Pacquiao
Thursday, April 26th, 2012 2:37:25 by Imran Shaukat KhanThe eight-division world champion and the current WBO Welterweight champion, Manny Pacquiao, will lock horns with the current WBC Light Welterweight Champion, Timothy Bradley, on June 9 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada and the five-division world champion Floyd Mayweather junior reckons it will not be an easy night for the Filipino star.
Mayweather, the current WBC Welterweight champion, took a dig at Pacquiao by saying that he always wanted a Pacquiao fight for May 5. However, the undefeated American legend, who holds an incredible record of winning all of his 42 professional fights, with 26 of his wins coming by the way of a knockout, surprisingly didn’t dismiss the quality of Pac-Man’s opponent.
“We wanted the Pacquiao fight for May 5 but it didn’t happen, so there’s nothing I could do,” Mayweather told ESPN.com. “You know, as I said before I’m always looking to give the fans what they want to see.
He said, “I’m pretty sure Pacquiao has a tough task on his hands with the young fighter – I don’t really know his name – but I’ve had a chance to watch him and he can box a little bit, so it’s not going to be an easy task for him.”
In the meanwhile, Mayweather also talked about his opponent Miguel Cotto, the reigning WBA (Super) Light Middleweight Champion, with whom he will have a fight on May 5 at the same MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.
Mayweather, more commonly known as Money, normally fights at 147lbs but for the first time he has gone up to 154lbs in order to meet the fight requirements still he is pretty confident of a win.
“I’m well aware of Cotto’s potential and the advantages that he possesses in the ring on any given night, but come May 5, those advantages aren’t going to do him any good. Fight fans, get ready, because I’m about to dethrone the current king of the 154-pound weight class.”
Well, all said and done, let’s see if Mayweather and Pacquiao can pass their respective tests because otherwise a possibility for them of fighting each other will fade away.
