Archos 101 G9 Turbo (2012): A full review – Part 2
Saturday, April 28th, 2012 7:09:47 by Usman KhalidThe left side of the device has a charging port, a Mini-HDMI port, a 3.5mm headphone jack, a Micro-USB port, and the power/sleep button. The charging port is exactly the same size as the headphone jack and there is a strong chance that you might plug your charger or headphone into the incorrect port.
The other side houses the volume rocker which for a number of reasons is placed in a wrong place. Camouflaged into the casings own built, the rocker is hard to find in a very unintuitive place. There are times when you have to find the buttons and there are times when you accidentally press them, mistaking for some other button.
The device is made of plastic, through and through, which is dark grey in colour. The back side has four rubber pegs for grip when placed on tabletop. The left side contains a neat but very thin and delicate kickstand that can be used for movie watching. Either side has sets of pinholes to make way for the sound out of the stereo speakers.
The 10.1-inch touch-screen display has a resolution of 1,280×800 pixels, and can run 1080p full-HD video. The pre-loaded videos in both 720p and 1080p format produced crisp and sharp picture quality and unlike its own camera’s videos, the colours were vivid and aptly saturated.
The screen is responsive compared to other tablets, surprisingly, and there was no lag from the software to gestures like pinch and scrolling while surfing on the internet or playing a video game.
The left side of the bezel adorns a front-facing camera that can record 720p video. However, that is not only the primary camera but also the only camera on the device. It would look awkward capturing videos without watching it. However, the owner will have to keep up with it, unfortunately.
