Thiago Pereira and Cesar Cielo excelled in the events of Men’s 400m Individual Medley (IM) and 100m freestyle on fourth day of the Maria Lenk Trophy in Brazil.
Pereira demonstrated his nerve-wrecking form in the distant IM event as he ended his swim in a wonderful time of 4 minutes and 13.48 seconds.
He was followed by Esteban Enderica of FFC/RJ, who remained considerably behind and ended his swim in a time of 4 minutes and 23.08 seconds.
Enderica was followed by Diogo Oliveira Yabe of FIAT/MINAS, who stayed marginally slower from him and tapped the wall for bronze medal by posting 4 minutes and 23.48 seconds.
On the other hand, Cesar Augusto Cielo Filho occupied gold medal of the 100m discipline by submitting a time of 48.28 seconds.
His scintillating effort remained full body length ahead of his following swimmer, Marcelo Chierighini of ECP/SABESP, who finished his swim in second best place by reporting a time of 49.05 seconds.
The silver medallist was followed by Chierighini’s team-member, Frederick Bousquet, who reached the victory stand for bronze medal by clocking a time of 49.14 seconds.
Subsequently, Jeanette Ottesen Gray captured gold medal of the Women’s 100m freestyle by posting a time of 54.37 seconds. The champion was followed by Daynara Ferreira Paula of CRF/FJ, who earned silver medal of the double-lap event by posting a time of
55.54 seconds.
The second position holder was chased by Larissa Martins Oliveira, who stayed nearly half second slower and produced an effort of 55.92 seconds for bronze medal.
In the meantime, Mireya Belmonte clinched gold medal of the Women’s 400m IM, where she spoiled the party of her competitors with a 4 minutes and 39.41 seconds effort.
Belmonte was trailed by Joanna Maranhao, who completed her swim in second place by posting a time of 4 minutes and 42.32 seconds. The third position of the event was obtained by Bruna Veronez Primati, who finished her race with an effort of 4 minutes and
59.39 seconds.
Furthermore, the championship ended after the completion of all listed events.
