Samsung’s Russian website launches a countdown to Galaxy S III release
Monday, April 30th, 2012 6:28:58 by Usman KhalidSamsung is adorn by all kinds of media these days, thanks to the upcoming Galaxy S model that is expected to succeed last year’s Galaxy S II and Galaxy S II Skyrocket at May 3 event. According to some experts the new handset will be named S III, but neither has the name been officially announced nor has Samsung confirmed that the event is staged to launch the new smartphone.
However, all signs point to a strong possibility that the Korean company has its fingers crossed for the release of Galaxy S III, or anything they decide to name the device with. In recent events, Samsung Russia has started a countdown on their national website that goes off on May 5, the alleged date when Russia receives the S III.
This is not first such event seen on Samsung’s regional websites; a week ago Denmark Samsung’s official website launched a teaser countdown on Facebook, which created a ripple in the already speculative audience all over the world. However, for some reason that ended up a false alarm.
Smartphone manufacturers and users have witnessed these kinds of teasers in the past, but it is the first time a non-Apple company has received such a reception prior to the launch of a device.
The speculated new features in the new handset include quad-core processor; digital camera with megapixel resolution in double figures; 4G LTE capability; slim design; retina resolution or a display at least close to it and Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich).
In other news Samsung has initiated the second round of Ice Cream Sandwich update on its Galaxy S II model, I9100G. The company started the ICS update for I9100, the original month-old version of the handset, in March but I9100G was left unaddressed. However, in the latest reports received from different countries where I9100G was sold as the official Galaxy S II, the company has rolled out the ICS update.
The I9100G is the tuned-down internationally unlocked version of Galaxy SII.
