Dev Patel has no ambitions for Bollywood
Wednesday, May 2nd, 2012 11:00:12 by Imran Shaukat KhanThe 22-year-old actor Dev Patel shocked everyone with his magnificent acting in his very first film ‘Slumdog Millionaire’, which was directed by Danny Boyle. The film, which was released back in 2008, stuck gold at the Box Office and made a clean sweep at the Oscars 2009.
‘Slumdog Millionaire’ instantly brought Patel under the main lights and today he is counted among the stars but despite of having an Indian ethnicity, he has not interested in joining the Bollywood industry.
Patel recently talked about his Bollywood plans in a tete-a-tete with DNA. He said that he doesn’t have much Bollywood intentions because he thinks the Indian films do not target the International market.
He said, “I’ve had a few offers. But, well, with all due respect, I have no Bollywood ambitions as such. I just want to concentrate on the kind of international projects that I’m currently working on. So, I do want to be a part of films that tell stories of India, but not aimed for Indian markets only.”
In the meantime, Patel also confirmed that he is dating Freida Pinto, who was his co-star in ‘Slumdog Millionaire’.
Rumours revolving around suggested that perhaps Patel and Pinto are planning to tie the knot but since Patel is five years younger to Pinto he was asked about it, on which he rejected all reports and said he has no such plans on his mind.
He remarked, “Yes, we are dating. But we haven’t given marriage a thought yet. I think we’re too young. C’mon I’m just 22! (laughs). As for working together, we have done a good film already, so we are not exactly looking at doing one together again.”
Dev Patel is currently participating in John Madden’s upcoming film ‘The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel’ and he has revealed that he will start shooting for ‘Defiant’ afterwards.
“After The Best…, I will start shooting for Bill Bennett’s Defiant, which is based on honour killings in India and then there are a couple of other films too that I’m considering.”
