Dr. Abdul Qadeer Khan makes rare appearances at Punjab University
Thursday, May 3rd, 2012 1:43:33 by Faisal FarooqRenowned atomic scientist and national-hero, Dr. Abdul Qadeer Khan has advised Nawaz Sharif to join business and leave politics to Shahbaz Sharif, saying the current situation of the country is deteriorating day-by-day.
While making a rare public appearance at Punjab University, the nuclear scientist urged the youth to play their due role for country’s progress. In his view, there was a lot of talent in Pakistan as eight-year old Arfa Karim Randhawa (late) in the field of IT brought the country to limelight in the world, he added.
Dr. Qadeer advised the students to elect educated people and technocrats in the upcoming polls, saying that our drawback was that we were lacking professionals.
He observed, “The Punjab government’s laptops initiative would have had a greater impact if it had built computer laboratories in all cities and provided them internet and printers rather than distributing computers among students”.
The scientist also asked the youth to do their best for the improvement of the country, asking them to vote for the right leaders in the elections to put things on the right track.
In quite an unexpected statement, he commented, “Seeing the enthusiasm and passion of the youth, I am thinking why not contest next election from Lahore. I have great affection for this city”.
Rejecting the impression that Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto had invited him to Pakistan, he said, “I wrote him a letter myself. After India became a nuclear power, I wrote to him that Pakistan wouldn’t exist in another 10 years if no action was taken. He called me and I gave some proposals”.
Explaining the successes, he said they made an atomic bomb taking a third route, other than plutonium or diffusion. The total annual budget was $25 million at time when a dollar was exchanged at Rs10, he added.
The nuclear scientist said the world was stunned that a country that did not even manufacture a needle had made nuclear technology.
In his view, all the progress of developed nations was based on scientists and engineers but on the contrary, our politicians were issuing statements against technocrats and making all efforts to destroy our country.

These computers were not distributed with good intentions. These were to appease voters but the scheme turnout to be a big scam. These scams are failure after failures because there is no vision behind. These pills can relieve short pain but don’t give long term results.
