Industry reshaping with the release of Ivy Bridge, Windows 8 and NVIDIA graphics – Part 1
Thursday, May 3rd, 2012 3:56:18 by Usman KhalidThe release of new Ivy Bridge processors from Intel will have unarguably major changes in the technology that we ahead of ourselves this year and possibly in the next term.
Though Intel’s outing at the Consumer Electronics Show 2012 was lip-sealed as the company reserved the rights to remain silent on the processing power of the new chips and the graphic-rendering improvements it might bring to the equation but several tests have shown a drastic change in the performance of the new processors.
The pre-release versions of certain laptops and desktops with the Ivy Bridge processors showed impressive upgrades in both general applications processing and graphics department. Thus, it is expected to be embrace welcomed by PC vendors like HP and Dell. In addition Apple is rumoured to revamp its line of notebooks, both Macbook Air and Pro, this year with the Ivy Bridge processors.
However, Windows is anticipated to milk the most benefit from the new technology. The processor is energy efficient and great with graphics-intensive applications. With a smaller foot print of both CPU and integrated graphics card, the new processor is expected to make changes to the shape and size of devices.
Microsoft is planning to release Windows 8 in September or October at the latest. The newest iteration of the world’s most used OS is speculated to create ripples around the new lines of PC and tablets. Mainly the operating system is developed around the tablets that we see now-a-days but Microsoft claims it is as good for traditional PC as it will be for the slates.
The Metro interface, that incorporates all the Start button’s features and many more, is basically tablet-oriented but it is as efficient with the mouse. There are a number of features that work seamlessly with a mouse device. In addition, Microsoft and other third-party vendors have developed mice that are pre-loaded with multi-gesture functionalities.
