Rehman Malik claims to prove corruption against Sharif Brothers in seven days

Rehman Malik, the Interior Minister, has claimed that he would prove corruption charges against Sharif Brothers within seven days, saying that they built palaces in Raiwind by plundering national exchequer.

While speaking to the media outside Parliament House, the minister took a jab at the Sharif Brothers once again. Asking them if they respected the law so much he raised a question, why they had not replied a police officer who contacted them on orders of the Supreme Court.

He informed the media that a new SSP had been appointed to probe the cases of Nawaz Sharif, Shahbaz Sharif and other leaders and he had directed him to respectfully record their statements.

The deferred proceedings against Nawaz Sharif, the leader of the second largest political party of the country, should move forward as it had been more than one decade.

In his earlier statement, the Interior Minister claimed that the government was set to file a reference with the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) against the Sharif Brothers in various corruption cases.

He observed, “I have evidence that the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leaders had siphoned off public funds worth $32 million”.

Terming Chief Minister Punjab Shahbaz Sharif ‘King of lairs’, Malik said the Punjab government was still being run on a “stay order” and contempt case against Nawaz Sharif was also pending in the Supreme Court.

A day back, the CM Punjab had hit back at Interior Minister Rehman Malik, calling him the ‘IG of liars’, and had vowed to quit politics for good if any evidence of corruption was proved against him and his family.

Challenging him to prove the charges, Shahbaz Sharif said, “If any evidence which proves my involvement or the Sharif family in corruption charges, then I will not only resign from the post of Chief Minister but also leave politics”.
