Mireya Belmonte and Charles Gipson Houchin pocket gold medals – Maria Lenk Trophy

Mireya Belmonte and Charles Gipson Houchin pocketed gold medal of the 400m freestyle in Women and Men’s category on day five of the Maria Lenk Trophy in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

Belmonte stayed prominently ahead of her challengers in the mediocre distance freestyle event and captured gold medal of the event with the timing of 4 minutes and 05.70 seconds.

She was followed by Lotte Friis, who stayed nearly four seconds slower and completed her race in a time of 4 minutes and 09.68 seconds for silver medal of the event.

Third spot of the event was obtained by Cecilia Elizabeth Biagioli, who stayed almost three seconds slower from her foregoing finisher and tapped the finishing wall with the timing of 4 minutes and 12.53 seconds.

Biagioli was trailed by Manuella Lyrio, who suffered a loss of almost two body lengths behind and clocked an effort of 4 minutes and 15.49 seconds.

Lyrio remained almost two body lengths faster from her subsequent competitor, Poliana Okimoto, who occupied fifth position of the event by producing a time of 4 minutes and 17.09 seconds.

On the other hand, Charles Gipson Houchin snared gold medal of the equivalent discipline by submitting a time of 3 minutes and 50.11 seconds.

The gold medallist was followed by Juan Pereyra, who stayed just one and a half body length behind and settled on the finishing end for silver medal by reporting a time of 3 minutes and 51.45 seconds.

The second position holder was followed by Marcos C Ferrari de Oliveira, who proved her mettle for bronze medal of the discipline by clocking a time of 3 minutes and 53.97 seconds.

Similarly, Oliveira was followed by Giuliana Carer Rocco, who clocked a time of 3 minutes and 56.23 seconds for fourth position of the event. Following that, Lucas Cruz Kanieski secured fifth position of the event by posting a time of 3 minutes and 56.31
seconds.

Furthermore, the championship ended after the completion of all planned events while the position holders swere awarded accolades after the session.
