Veena Malik: I always wanted to be in a Tamil film
Friday, May 4th, 2012 3:23:32 by Imran Shaukat KhanThe controversial queen of Pakistan, Veena Malik, is all set for her first Tamil ride with producer Venkatappa’s upcoming film ‘Dirty Picture: Silk Sakkath Maga’, which is a south remake of Milan Luthria’s film ‘The Dirty Picture’ and the actress says she always wanted to be a part of the Tamil cinemas.
‘The Dirty Picture’, which was released last year on December 10, featured Vidya Balan in the role of late sex siren Silk Smitha and this time Veena Malik will be seen doing the same role.
The Pakistani starlet, who is currently in Fiji for the shooting of her upcoming film ‘Supermodel’, recently had an exclusive interview with the Express Tribune over the phone, in which she talked about the Tamil cinema.
She told the Express tribune, “I always wanted to work in a Tamil film. I believe Tamil films are very strong as far as the script goes and technical work is concerned. I hate doing same old boy meets girl movies and I won’t be accepting any roles like these anymore.”
Vidya Balan gained almost fifteen kgs for the film and Veena has revealed that she will also have to put on some weight in order to meet the requirements of the role.
She added, “I have to put on weight for the film and I am not a foodie at all. I have never had three complete meals in my life but now I will have to.”
The actress will be learning Tamil language as well and she has said she will give her best shot for it.
Malik stated, “Initially, the plan is to have a workshop for 10 days and language is always a challenging skill for an actor but I will give it my very best shot. It will be challenging for me, but interesting too.”
Well, all said and done, Vidya Balan’s ‘The Dirty Picture’ struck gold at the box office but let’s see if Veena Malik can overshadow her Balan’s performance.
