Lahore: (Monday, May 07, 2012) Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani, while addressing the 2nd Aman Ki Asha Economic Conference here today, said that poverty, disease and ignorance should no more be the fate of the people
of India and Pakistan. While welcoming the distinguished guests from the two countries, Gilani wished them all a pleasant stay in provincial capital of Punjab.
While sharing his thoughts during the event, the PM said that it was an impressive gathering that had brought the business tycoons of the two countries together. He said, “This is indeed an impressive gathering of business tycoons
from both India and Pakistan. You are among those bright minds who help create wealth, generate economic activity which is so vital for the progress and prosperity of any country. Poverty, disease, and ignorance should not be the fate of the people of two
countries anymore.”
Envisaging a bright and prosperous future that was expected to ensue after more such meetings of businessmen from both sides, the PM Said, “Your presence here manifests not only the current level of trade relations between the
two countries, but more importantly, the huge potential it offers for the bright future. This is a region, where more than one-fifth of the world population resides, and which is fast becoming one of the key drivers of the global economy.”
Gilani was of the view that the meetings of businessmen from the two sides of the borders highlight the peace process and normalization that is taking place between India and Pakistan. To him, this was a good omen for a peaceful
and prosperous future for the people of both the countries.
Expressing his delight over the effort put in by Jang Group and the Times of India that have brought business communities of the both countries together and had contributed towards the promotion of the peace process, he expressed
the hope that both India and Pakistan can work together to overcome the hurdles for the mutual benefit of the people as citizens of the two democratic countries certainly deserved better social status that they were presently enjoying.
