Floyd Mayweather: I want to fight Pacquiao but he has to take the test

The five-division world champion and the current WBC Welterweight Champion, Floyd Mayweather junior, defeated Miguel Cotto on points in a bruising battle in Las Vegas on Saturday night and after the fight Mayweather told his archrival Manny Pacquiao that the time is now right for them to square up for the fight the world wants to see.

The undefeated American legend, who now holds an incredible record of winning all of his 43 professional fights, with 26 of his wins coming by the way of a knockout, stated he would fight the Filipino star if he agrees with him on the random blood testing.

Mayweather said: “I tried to make the Pacquiao fight and that didn’t work, so I fought Miguel Cotto instead and gave the fans a great fight.

“I want to fight Pacquiao but he has to take the test, and I’ll fight him.”

Mayweather, now 35, was taken to full distance by Cotto and the way Cotto was fighting in the start, it looked as if Mayweather will lose the fight. Therefore, the American superstar paid a glowing tribute to the Puerto Rican pugilist after the fight.

Mayweather remarked that Cotto was the toughest opponent he has faced thus far,

“You’re a hell of a champion. You’re the toughest guy I ever fought,” Mayweather said afterwards.

“You want to give the fans what they pay for and that’s excitement. It comes with the territory when you fight a future Hall of Famer like Miguel Cotto.

“I had to fight hard and suck it up. I dug down and fought him back.”

Well, all said and done, Pacquiao, who is set to face Timothy Bradley on June 9, agreed to Mayweather for the random blood testing but there fight could get real because of the money, as Mayweather didn’t offer Pacquiao a 50-50 split.

Let’s hope a fight between these two gets made because people desperately want to see who the real pound-for-pound king is.
