Apple made the first home appliance a couple of years ago but due to its utility it has not only grabbed a big following but many are pursuing the same line of work, for example, Roku LT.

Both set-top boxes offer a slew of online platforms that render services from music to movies to television programming. However, there is a difference in both of them.

First off, the price. Though Apple TV has a number of apps onboard, it is still $50 expensive than Roku. However, one of the biggest attraction in the device is its connectivity to Apple’s ecosystem. If your mom has an iPhone, of any model, Apple TV is the best choice because it connects to the iOS and Mac devices seamlessly. Moreover, iTunes boasts a large variety of audio and video that will certainly be satisfying to mothers.

It also sports 1080p video resolution that mothers would like on their HDTVs. Roku LT tops at 720p video resolution but the $49.99 price is more attractive than full HD video quality. In addition, Roku also offers an HD version of the device, Roku 2 HD, that boasts 1080p resolution, but it will set the buyer back $75, which is still less than Apple TV’s price tag.

Both Apple TV and Roku LT/HD offer a host of apps from NetFlix to Hulu that have latest TV shows and movies in their databases.

Older people like stay fit and when it comes to women, take the curiosity up a notch. There are a number of calorie measurers available in the market that can assist the user in a number of ways. These clip-on devices measure from just about everything: steps taken, stairs climbed, distance travelled, and calories burned. Moreover, they can monitor your sleep patterns (though the actual benefits of that are a bit vague).
