What 2012 iteration of iPhone should bring to the table? – Part 2
Tuesday, May 8th, 2012 1:33:58 by Usman KhalidFollowing are some of the desired upgrades that people would like to see in the new iPhone. The roster is in no particular order.
Display
Since the release of the original iPhone in 2007 Apple has not enlarged the screen size, although we saw a major increase in the pixel density in 2010 when the company brought Retina Display with 332 ppi pinnacle achieved.
Still the phone lacks the brightness of AMOLED displays, the colour vividness of LCD 2 and deeper blacks of ClearBlack. These display technologies make display readable in the sunlight, where iPhone is always a tough job to handle.
In terms of touch sensitivity, iPhone has always been the best in the bunch and no one has ever complaint about it.
To date, the phone has sported a 3.5-inch screen whereas its competitors have launched smartphones with bigger than 5-inch displays. However, that is an overstated screen size, very hard to handle. What Apple can do is at least bring the size to 4 inches for better view of movies and photos, in addition to books and web content.
Battery Life
Every new iteration of Apple’s signature handset has brought betterment to the battery life and the 2012 model should not be an exception. Although iPhone 4S hit a snag in the start with a bug that drained the charge from source but the company eventually managed to overcome the problem.
Still, the phone is yet to offer a battery timing at par with the likes of Motorola Droid Razr Maxx. The new phone should bring the battery life to multiple days at Stand-by mode. The talk time should be reinforced and web browsing over 3G and WiFi should be made energy efficient.
Speaking of which…
