What 2012 iteration of iPhone should bring to the table? – Part 4

Shape

The iPhone 4S was the identical twin of 2010’s iteration by Apple. That left a lot to desire as many had expected a redesign of handset. Although there is nothing wrong with 4S’ design, it has now become old for a market that is ultra-competitive at the least.

Every company has changed the next generation of its premium phones on every OS-platform save one; HTC Titan II is almost the same as HTC Titan in looks.

Apple changes the shape of its smartphone every two years and it is expected that the 2012 model will keep the tradition going.

Other upgrades

Samsung Galaxy Nexus, Galaxy SIII, Motorola Droid Razr Maxx and many more have one thing in common, Near Field Communications (NFC) chip. This new technology enables automated transactions over radio waves whenever a sender and receiver are in close proximity. So far iPhone has been deprived of such tech.

Late Steve Jobs went on a war with Adobe over their animation platform, Adobe Flash. According to Jobs, software did not have the muscle to run on mobile devices. Though HTML 5 is a good replacement but there are still many websites and other applications that work on Flash and it creates a problem for iPhone to be compatible with this content. Maybe Tim Cook changes his mind and Flash gets a way inside iPhone.

Expandable memory is another issue. Though 64 GB is enough for a mobile device but as the graphics are getting expansive by the day, this much storage will run short. A micro-SD card is needed in iPhone, period.
