David Haye, Dereck Chisora to fight at West Ham’s Upton Park
Tuesday, May 8th, 2012 3:17:20 by Imran Shaukat KhanIf rumours are to be believed then former British heavyweight champion Dereck Chisora and former WBA heavyweight champion David Haye will meet each other in the ring this summer in a fight which will not be licensed by the British Boxing Board of Control (BBBofC).
Boxing promoter Frank Warren has said that the clash between the two will occur at West Ham’s Upton Park ground on July 14 and he believes Chisora is going to outclass Haye.
“I really fancy Chisora to win the fight,” he told the Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast show. “All the rubbish that happened in Germany only served to overlook his performance against Vitali Klitschko.
“He gave Vitali the hardest fight he’s had since facing Lennox Lewis all those years ago. Had he had a bit more experience he could have caused an upset. When you look at that against David Haye’s performance against Wladamir [Klitschko], they were chalk and cheese.”
Currently neither Haye nor Chisora hold a boxing license from the board and the reason behind is obviously their infamous fight that occurred during the Vitali-Chisora post-fight press conference in Munich in February.
However, one of the leading boxing promoters, Barry Hearn, is not happy with all of this at all since he reckons after what has happened Haye and Chisora should not be allowed to enter the ring.
“It sounds as if it is true and it’s going to pose a real big problem for the British Boxing Board of Control,” he told the BBC.
“We really can’t encourage and condone the behaviour of those two fighters by allowing them to come to England and make a lot of money.
“I’m looking to the British Boxing Board of Control to exercise the authority they have.
Well, all said and done, David Haye and Dereck Chisora will certainly draw a huge crowd, if they really take on each other because people know there fight will be an explosive one.
