Imran Khan urges for reformed Indo-Pak ties

Tuesday, May 8th, 2012 11:43:30 by

Imran Khan, the chairman of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), on Tuesday said that the time has come to see change in ties between Pakistan and India, asking them to trust each other in order to make the region prosperous.

While speaking to Pak-India Economic Conference, the cricketer-turned politician observed, “Time has come for new relationship between the two countries, as there is lot of common things between the two nations. We have similar background and culture”.

It was the second-day of the conference, which is being organized under the banner of Aman ki Asha, a joint venture of the Times of India and Jang Group of Pakistan.

The PTI leader, which is a revolutionary party that has recently arrived on the national stage, urged that progressive Indo-Pak relationship should be made by two powerful governments who can stand pressure and can transform words into actions.

Imran Khan said that resolution of Kashmir issue would be his top most priority if he came in power, adding that leadership of both the countries should move on to enhance bilateral ties as young generation of the two countries looked for a change.

In his view, a strong leadership is needed both in Pakistan and India to take peace initiative and resolve Kashmir dispute. There is natural affinity among people of India and Pakistan as both are seeking peace in the region.

The former captain said there was lack of trust and both the countries should take measures for bridging the trust deficit. He clarified that his party would not have political alliance with parties in the government.

In his view, there should be balance in trade between the two neighboring states and time had come for Pakistan and India to look at each other with different view point. He asserted, “Dividends of peace are enormous and time has come for new relations and for putting an end to hatred”.

Khan was of the opinion that there were several interpretations of Jihad (holy war) but raising voice against injustice was also form a Jihad.

Chairman of Bajaj Auto Group Rahul Bajaj will chair the second session of the conference in which Finance Minister Abdul Hafeez Shaikh will address the conference.

President of Geo Network Imran Aslam and Indian Member Parliament Mani Shankar Aiyar will address the final session of the conference.

Mr. Imran is a cricketer turned cricketer good for nothing. He still thinks that he can run this country like he ran the Shaukat Khanum Hospital. But Pakistan is a bit larger then Shaukat Khanum Hospital. Now again when he says that he can run this country like he ran the Shaukat Khanum Hospital, he should keep this in mind that we Pakistanis are are a healthy country and are not cancer patients.

    Dear totto,
never think negative always about others, it means ur mind is too narrow. no one have in pakistan who can make a hospital like shoukat khanum and run without looting the money of pak public.IK have no share in the government, to run pak successfully is not hard, unless there are patients like you without cancer.
I think cancer is better for you, comparing to this present situation of pakistan locally and internationally.keep in mind there are no sick minded peoples like you in PTI. we are also thinking why pak is not grooming, today i understand that there are some sick minded, and narrow minded still living in pak.May Allah help u.

Imran was a great Captain, will be a great leader and his views at the conference are absolutely representative of most of us.
It is extremely appropriate that he addressed such a crucial forum. This is our future.

    Mr. Toto,
Imran may or may not run the country like his hospital. Time will tell. But at least he is honest and and moving forward with an honest mindset that represent the minds of our young and future generations. Do you really think that pakistan is a healthy country?? Do you live in a LaLa land? Wake up…

    Imran, you are so right.
I used to be a law abiding citizen but now I cannot take the law seriously – the whole country seems like a joke to me.
This is the beginning of chaos.
    This will bring the tsunami.
Alas . . . true change will only come with bloodshed . . . not the ballot box.
Everyone is too compromised to bring change . . . only the have-nots can bring it.
You are trying to do the right thing . . . I hope it is not too late.

No, if the common man refuses to obey the court following the footsteps of the ruler then the common man will get punished just as well. The recents events have not made disobeying the costs without the fear of punishment any easier. PM Gillani did refuse to obey the courts but he also got punished for his misbehaviour. The degree of punishment is debatable but not the handing out of punishment.

So no, the common man will not suddenly be more inclined to disobey the court anymore today than he was, say, 10 years ago.

What a completely absurd and irresponsible statement.

This is one of the reasons I don’t want to see you as a ruler. You will also become disobedient.

To: Toto I think running a corporation will gives you the experience. A country is a very large organization with many parts. I would back someone like Imran to do well only beacuse he has delivered on his promise. He is upfront about his life (for me that is integrity lacking in Zardari, Nawaz, Altaf and all others)

  15. sj.khan

It’s getting boring Imran Khan. Till the elections arrive, can Pakistanis get more Shaukat Khanum like initiatives. If you do that, by Allah you will have a tsunami victory.

Talkers only talk, stop being a Nawaz Sharief. Be the Imran we all loved.

    Love
    Occupied Kashmiris

  21. Rao

Mr Toto, dude U HAVE BEEN SERVED by all people so from me for you it would be, NO COMMENT.

  22. Bravo: LONG LIVE IMRAN KHAN – KON BACHAEY GA PAKISTAN IMRAN KHAN IMRAN KHAN. I sgrongly condemned the canceristic comments of toto and fully agree and endorse the positive comments of Rana and @LI. Realy toto need CANCER because he seems to be SICK mind. We have WORST experience since the birth of LONG LIVE PAKISTAN, as civilian and army so-called politician looted the blood sucking taxed money with the amalgmation of bureaucracy/naukarshi. Ask the present socalled JIALA people who is ruling the government on the SADQA of Benazir Shaheed. An O/A level plundery is running the hookoomat like KHOTA GARI OF LYARI. The present regime sucked the BLOOD of Lyari Ka Mazloom Awam. IMRAN KHAN is the only symbol of CHANGE, CHANGE, CHANGE. Pakistan ka bahadur awam ab sirf CHANGE chahtay hein: WE NEED CHANGE and CHANGE is EVITABLE in the SHAPE OF IMRAN KHAN. This is the time of DO OR DIE. So our slogan must be IMRAN KHAN QADAM BARHAO QUOM TUMHARAY SATH HAY, INSHALLAH VICTORY WILL KISS THE QADAM OF IMRAN KHAN AND PAKISTAN TEHRIK-E-INSAF. I appeal every PATRIOTIC PAKISTANI to become member of PTI. 65% youth are with IMRAN KHAN. L O N G L I V E IMRAN KHAN, L O N G L I V E P A K I S T A N. Observe the Economic Development and Prosperity of TURKEY; in 2002 their GDP was 5.6% and after ten years in 2012 it is now 11.5%. Rajab Tayyab Erdogen; the Mahatir Muhammad and Nelson Mandela of Turkey invited IMRAN KHAN who spent TEN DAYS in Turkey and one week in CHINA to study the economic development and prosperity of Turkey and China. The only HOPE OF CHANGE AND PROSPEROUS ECONOMIC PAKISTAN IS ‘I M R A N K H A N & IMRAN KHAN’ GOD BLESS IMRAN KHAN, U R ONLY ‘H O P E’ of every PATRIOTIC PAKISTANI.

Mr MN where did u pluck this 90%. Even if u really mean it this should be 100% as these biggest Daacoos are the main Problem. By the way he has given solution based policies and more importantly WILL and demonstrated ability. If u r not convinced then no need to aggravate yourself… Go and vote these culprits again and enjoy your tall poppy syndrome.

  25. MUSHTAQ BHATTI

Dear totto, probably you need an assylum.Mentally sick persons like you are worse than cancer patients who cant differentiate between realities and illusions. Imran is a great reformer, working selflessly to bring a positive and welcome change in the society. Indeed time has come for the masses both in Pakistan and India to come closer and jointly fight against poverty, hunger, disease, illiteracy ….

  26. melhi

there are a few people benefiting from current political system directly or indirectly.atleast imran khan is new we should respect change even a little change. Go khan, we are with you.

  27. tariq Janjua

No doubt, we, Pakistanis, are very much ambitious for peace with India. But, unfortunately and realistically, Indians have a different mind set. They are getting all the benefits from us such as from trade and other concessions. They do not let any stone unturned against ourselves. For instance, Indians are the ones who did not let the Bangladeshis come to Pakistan to play cricket with our boys. They are the ones who have snatched this beautiful play of cricket from our youngsters. Still they have not stop any propoganda against us to blame internationally as they are doing now a days alongwith Hillary. They are calling us supporters of terrorists and demanding Hafiz Saeed. What type of Aman Ki Asha this is. Oh’ we will not get any gesture of friendship from these guys. Forget it my countrymen.

  28. Usman

I just want to say that despite of huge resources govt have , no one could build a hospital like shoukat khanum. Its not just a hospital , it is an institution and person who can build institutions can build our country as well. Any body who still supports current junk politicians , should be …………………..

  29. I think most of the people don’t understand the personalities. It is wrong perception that Imran Khan was a crickter and cant run the country affairs, some people say he can not run the affairs of pakistan because it is not Shaukat Khanum. If you look, Imran Khan has a dynamic personality, who has vision and with sincere and dedicated effort can take this country out of crises. At present we dont have sincere, dedicated and honest leadership ( with Pakistan). It is my strong believe that if leader is honest, his team (cabinet) dare not to involve in corruption/looting the country. Every second day we listen/read a scandle against different politicians/so called leaders. If these are scandle, can they answer from where they got so much money, how they became filthy rich. As per my humble opinion, we must vote for right person who is sincere and honest with this country. we should ignore social pressures while casting our vote. At the same time I must say Shabaz Sharif is also good leader, good administrator and has delivered well in Punjab. If we are sincere with this country, we must cast our vote for sincere, dedicated and honest people like Imran Khan, Shabaz Sharif and Jamat Islami leadership. Alas we have Imran Khan Prime Minister, Dr Qadeer Khan as president of Pakistan. At the end I pray to Allah Almighty to help Pakistan. Ameen.

  30. tariq Janjua

Hi countrymen, it was required that the people should have come with their ideas regarding Imran’s reformed relationship with India as this was the subject. However, some people have priased his personality and hospital and others objected. I would be grateful if you people show some patience to understand Imran’s words and comment accordingly. All the best.

  31. Lt Col Imtiaz Alam(retd)

Imran Khan you cannot do it alone. In a three way fight the PPP will win hands down. Yes, in a one to one fight with the PPP you have a chance.
