PM Contempt Case; PPP expresses reservations on SC detailed judgment

London: (Wednesday, May 09, 2012) Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting, Qamar Zaman Kaira here today said that Pakistan People’s Party has reservations over the detailed verdict issued by the Supreme Court of Pakistan
over the Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani’s contempt of court case.

Sharing his thoughts to a private television channel, the minister, who is on an official trip to UK along with the Prime Minister, said, “Justice Khosa acted out of prejudice and had let his personal opinion become part of his
statement against the Prime Minister’.

Declaring the detailed verdict of the court as mere ‘verbose’ he said that the 77-page long judgment entailed nothing new for them.

Claiming that the ruling was fraught with ambiguities and flaws, Kaira, however, said that the government intended to file an appeal against the judgment.

Regarding the PM’s visit to the UK, the federal minister said that Gilani’s arrival to London at a critical juncture proved the closeness and harmony that the two countries shared in their relations.

He was of the view that the ongoing visit of the PM held significant importance for Pakistan.
