Nawaz Sharif to further tighten the grip on the convicted Prime Minister

President of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Nawaz Sharif vowed to further tighten the grip on convicted Prime Minister Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani, saying his refusal to accept the verdict of the Supreme Court is violation of the Constitution.

While addressing a public gathering in Jacobabad, Nawaz Sharif said that it would have been better for him to step down soon after the apex court announced its short order. He raised a question that what will the premier will he do now that the Supreme Court has released detailed ruling.

He observed, “You (PM Gilani) chose to stand by President Asif Ali Zardari, now face the music because it is now too late for you to do anything to help yourself”.

He threw light on the National Reconciliation Ordinance (NRO), saying the president betrayed the nation specially the PML-N which was well wisher of the people. The people of Sindh are not tenants of any body; he said adding that they should not disobey him if somebody compels you to become tenants of Nawaz Sharif.

He informed that his party ruled the country only for four and a half years in two stints while Pakistan Peoples’ Party (PPP) had the opportunity for 15 years in four terms, doing nothing for development of the country, people’s welfare and for strengthening institutions.

Sharif said that he had rejected the US offer of billions of dollars as prime minister in exchange for not conducting atomic tests. The circumstances of the country have become so pitiable that nobody is ready to take pain for reformation, he added.

Except corruption, power crisis, unemployment and lawlessness, the PPP-led government had not offered anything to this nation, he argued. Making it clear, he said that he was not only the spokesman of Punjab but Sindh, Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa are also equally dear to him and his party.

Rejecting the impression that he wants to come into power, he claimed that his mission was only to bring prosperity and progress in the country. He noted, “I have made the government understand so many times to be conscious about the pitiable situation of the country but it remained stubborn on its stance”.

Nawaz Sharif said that President Zardari was actually responsible for all the mismanagement and mal-treatment with the masses.
