It is iPhone’s turn now to be in the rumours these days. With the iPad 3, which eventually turned out to be the New iPad, fiasco dropped upon its release and the recently-becoming sweetheart of the news, Samsung Galaxy S III’s launch, the rumour mill has been directly in the iPhone’s direction.

In recent developments, many experts have revealed their utmost desires that should be included in the new Apple smartphone. Some of them have to do with the wireless network upgrade to 4G LTE—like the New iPad—and some to its processor and software features. However, the most important and widely discussed remains to be shape and design.

Recently, iLounge editor Jeremy Horwitz, a very reliable source, unveiled that the new iPhone is certain to get a make-up, if not make-over. According to Horwitz, the new phone will be thinner and longer with a bigger screen than the previous iterations.

This is what he had to say in his report:

“…the new iPhone will indeed be longer and thinner than the iPhone 4 and 4S. Approximate measurements are 125mm by 58.5mm by 7.4mm—a 10mm jump in height, nearly 2mm reduction in thickness, and virtually identical width. According to our source, Apple will make one major change to the rear casing, adding a metal panel to the central back of the new iPhone. This panel will be flat, not curved, and metal, not ceramic. Our artist’s rendition provides a rough idea of what this change will look like; it echoes the current-generation iMac design, to be sure.”

The question here is, why should we trust this rumour? The answer is simple and two fold. A new design in the iPhone has been a long time coming and it has been seen that the handset gets a shape revamp every two years. Moreover, the source, Horwitz, is reliable for he had also revealed certain information about the iPad before its release in March, most of which turned out to be true.

Therefore, now we are looking at a fall release of the new iPhone which will welcomingly have a new and bigger screen with some breadth shaved off.
