Think before you Speak: Sindh Chief Minister apologizes to Kingri House

In what appeared to be a blow for the PPP, Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah reportedly offered apology to Pir Pagara Sibghatullah Shah Rashdi for the remarks passed by Shazia Marri against Shah Mardan Shah (the late Pir Pagara VII).

The PML-F, the government’s ally party in the province, had threatened to walk out of the coalition government if Pakistan Peoples’ Party’s leaders did not apologize.

CM Qaim Ali Shah observed, “I clarified (Marri’s) statement, (but) came here to invite the PML-F to the public gathering that the Pakistan Peoples’ Party will organize in Ghotki on Saturday”.

Criticizing Pir Pagara VII, Sindh Sindh Information Minister Shazia Marri had called him a GHQ agent.

In reply to the PML-F’s demand for an apology, the Chief Minister asserted “Shazia Marri had already apologised for her remarks. There is no more confusion between the two parties over the issue”.

He reiterated the government’s stance that only criminals were targeted in Lyari and that no operation had taken place in the area, adding that a vast majority of the local people was still with them. He claimed that they could hold a big gathering in the area whenever it is required.

About Sindh National Front’s (SNF) Mumtaz Bhutto’s decision to merge his party with the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz, the Chief Minister said that the two leaders would be unable to win a single parliamentary seat from the province.

He noted, “The people who are joining PML-N failed to deliver whenever they came to power. The people of Sindh rejected them in the last election too”.

At the occasion, Pir Pagara Sibghatullah Shah Rashdi said that his party would support the PPP’s candidate for premiership, in case Yousaf Raza Gilani was removed from his current post.

He said, “We will also extend our full support to the PPP during the by-polls in Sanghar.” The seat fell vacant after provincial minister Abdul Salam Thaheem died on April 22.

PML-F Sindh general secretary Imtiaz Shaikh said that all cabinet members of his party would resume their duties and MPAs would end their boycott of the Sindh Assembly sessions.

  1. Gul Ahmed Momand

There is no doubt he was GHQ agent, meaning by was being used by then generals for their dirty politics. Asghar khan case is one example. It is not the matter of anti GHQ, it is matter of law and constitution.
