Vidya Balan’s help not needed says Priyamani

Priya Vasudev Mani Iyer better known as her stage name Priyamani is the cousin of National Award winning actress Vidya Balan but she has refused to exploit the relationship in her advantage since she believes nothing can replace talent.

She said, “I don’t need to take tips from my second cousin about which films to sign or not. I’m too independent to seek her advice.”

Vidya Balan is one of the leading Bollywood actresses at this point in time thanks to the stupendous success of ‘The Dirty Picture’, which was released last year on December 10. However, Priyamani insisted that she is one of those who boast about their links to climb up the ladder.

“I may get more mileage if I bounce Vidya’s name in the Mumbai media, but I am totally averse to that idea. Some people may boast about their links to climb up the ladder but I’m not like that. Nothing can replace talent,” she argued.

The 27-year-old, in the meantime, confirmed that she has nothing against Balan and their families have an equation between each other.

“Of course, Vidya’s father P.R. Balan attended my brother’s wedding in Bengaluru recently and our family ties are good,” she replied.

‘The Dirty Picture’, in which Balan showed everyone how good she can be at her erotic best, is now being remade in Tamil and Telugu versions. Veena Malik and Rakhi Sawant have been chosen for the lead roles but Priyamani was also asked if she would like to step into her cousin’s shoes, on which the actress immediately replied by saying a no.

Frankly, I can’t do such a no-holds-barred role and Vidya did a fabulous job. I may have appeared in numerous glam roles, but this one too hot to handle even for me,” she said.

Priyamani is currently participating in a Kannada film ‘Lakshmi’ and she is also working on a Telugu film ‘Baburao Ninnodala’.
