Pakistani-Dutch tandem, Aisam-Ul-Haq Qureshi and Jean-Julien Rojer, dispaled flawless performance in their epic battle against the fourth seeds, Julian Knowle and David Marrero.
The highest ranked team of Qureshi and Rojer spilled five double faults and produced a lower first serve share of 63 per cent as compared to their opponents’ 69 per cent. However, they spectacularly marked 33 out of 44 points on it and sealed the deal with
71 points.
Rojer was quoted later, "It’s a good week for both of us. Some would say a much-needed title, but hopefully there will be more to come. We look forward to Madrid and Rome. This is a good build-up for those."
The top seeds rallied past the local wild card entrants, Gastao Elias and Joao Sousa, in their opening round match. They then bounced back after losing the opening set to overpower the Filipino-British collaboration of Treat Conrad Huey and Dominic Inglot
in the quarter-finals. Later, Qureshi and Rojer crushed Frenchmen, Richard Gasquet and Edouard Roger-Vasselin, with a breadstick to power into the title-round.
The Pakistani-Dutch tandem will next compete at the Mutua Madrid Open, an ATP World Tour Masters 1000 event held in Spain. They need to maintain their intensity in order to outsmart the top notch teams at this upcoming blue clay court event.
