Davis Tarwater and Caitlin Leverenz capture gold medals – 2012 NC Charlotte UltraSwim

Davis Tarwater and Caitlin Leverenz captured gold medals of the Men’s 100m butterfly and Women’s 400m Individual Medley (IM) respectively at the 2012 NC Charlotte UltraSwim.

With his epic start, Tarwater remained one stroke ahead of his closest challenger on the finishing end and stepped on the podium for gold medal by clocking a time of 52.87 seconds.

He was followed by Tyler McGill, who remained just 0.11 seconds faster from his foregoing finisher and confirmed his place on the victory stand for silver medal by posting a time of 52.98 seconds.

The silver medallist was followed by Tarwater’s teammate, Tim Phillips, who stayed nearly two seconds behind and proved his mettle for third position of the event by reporting a time of 53.28 seconds.

Following that, Leverenz remained considerably ahead of her opponents from the start of the 400m event as she cruised her way towards the finishing end with the timing of 4 minutes and 38.35 seconds.

She was trailed by Kathryn Hoff, who stayed nearly 2.50 seconds apart and emerged on the finishing end with the timing of 4 minutes and 40.82 seconds.

Hoff was followed by Elizabeth Beisel, who remained almost half a second slower and tapped the wall with the timing of 4 minutes and 41.22 seconds for bronze medal.

After that, Peter Vanderkaay proved his mettle for gold medal of the Men’s 400m IM. With his astonishing efforts, he remained about two body lengths faster from his closest challenger and posted a time of 4 minutes and 16.22 seconds for the title.

He was traced by Oussama Mellouli of Trojan Swim Club, who stepped on the medal rostrum for silver medal by touching the wall with an effort of 4 minutes and 18.81 seconds.

Similarly, Mellouli stayed nearly 2.50 seconds faster from his teammate, William Harris, who hit the finishing end with the timing of 4 minutes and 21.27 seconds.

The session ended after the completion of all listed events while the position holders were awarded medals and accolades for their gruelling efforts at the prize ceremony of the championship.
