Dwayne Bravo terms CSK v KKR as one of best matches of IPL VI
Tuesday, May 15th, 2012 2:32:35 by Rana Nasir GhafoorChennai Super Kings all-rounder Dwayne Bravo steered his side to a classy win over Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) by hitting a last ball six at Eden Gardens on Monday night.
Terming the encounter as one of the best in the ongoing season, Bravo said that he was not expecting the game to stretch to the final ball of the game.
"This is one of the best matches of IPL 5. If you need to score six runs off the last ball, there is only one option and that’s the boundary option," said Bravo at the post match press conference.
Batting first, the Knight Riders posted a total of 158 on the board. Gautam Gambhir and Brendon McCullum did well to score 99 runs for the first-wicket-stand.
However, the rest of the line-up could not capitalise on the good start and as a result, they probably fell 20-30 runs short of the desired score.
In reply, Murali Vijay and Michael Hussey provided Chennai a wonderful start. The two openers piled up 97 runs for the first-wicket-partnership to take their side to the comfortable zone. Things started turning against Chennai favour, when the visiting side
lost a few wickets in quick succession.
Bravo emerged as star of the show, as he added crucial 11 runs from only seven balls. The Caribbean all-rounder insisted that he was not expecting the game to go till the last ball of the match.
"No, I didn’t expect the game to stretch to the last ball, after the explosive start we had. But we lost two back-to-back crucial wickets, and after that the pressure mounted. But it is in these high pressure games that we need to perform because we need
to rise above pressure and perform," he added.
After beating Kolkata, the Super Kings have moved up to the fourth place on the chart. Dhoni XI has only one game left in the tournament and they will have to win that game in order to qualify for the playoffs.
Delhi Daredevils are on the top of the table followed by Mumbai Indians and Kolkata Knight Riders.
