Simon Cowell: ‘The Voice’ is similar to ‘X Factor’
Thursday, May 17th, 2012 3:58:04 by Waqas TariqThe TV Mogul claimed that BBC’s show ‘The Voice’ is a rip-off of his show ‘The X Factor’. He insisted that there is nothing new about the show and is confident that ‘The X Factor’ will definitely be leading the ratings once it starts later this year.
Cowell insisted that ‘The Voice’ has a lot of similarities with his show and the producer blamed BBC of copying his version on ITV. He admitted that there are many things that can be singled out from ‘The Voice’ that have great similarity which includes dancers, lights and live auditions.
“That show puzzles me because it starts off and ‘it’s all about the voice’. So my first thought is, ‘Why isn’t this on radio?’ because what’s the point in looking at them. Then suddenly I’m watching it a week or two weeks ago and it’s the same as The X Factor. They’ve got dancers behind them, graphics, lights. Same show,” he was quoted as saying in an interview.
On the other hand, Cowell insisted that there are many reality shows nowadays which try to copy X Factor. However, he stressed that the other shows have nothing different which is why they do not get the acceptance from the audience.
“I see a lot of shows trying to rip us off. If you try and rip somebody off it always looks like a bad copy. You’ve got to find a different way of doing things. When The Voice came along it was like, ‘Roll your sleeves up, we’re in for a bit of a punch-up.’ I’m smiling now,” he concluded.
Simon Cowell’s ‘Britain’s Got Talent’ is aired on the same time when ‘The Voice’ is aired on BBC. The former has so far the better ratings of the two shows.
