India will purchase gas from
Turkmenistan at a price
indexed to
oil, a cheap byproduct of
oil refining, but not
soggy, which makes imports
more expensive than domestic supplies.
The Cabinet on Thursday
approved a standard contract
for the purchase of Turkmen
gas to be wheeled
through Afghanistan and Pakistan through a
$ 7.6 billion pipeline.

Currently, the price of oil, fuel,
Turkmen gas will
cost $ 10 – $ 12
per unit in India, including the
transit fee and transportation
charge, against
an average of $ 16 for
a liquid natural gas imported in
ships and $ 4.2
for a supplies from domestic sources.
