The eight-division world champion and the current WBO Welterweight Champion, Manny Pacquiao, recently offended the guy community by saying that he is not in the favour of same sex marriage.

Pacquiao was quoted as saying: “God only expects man and woman to be together and to be legally married. It should not be of the same sex, so as to adulterate the altar of matrimony, like in the days of Sodom and Gomorrah.”

This statement brought a lot of criticism for the Filipino star. He was banned from a popular Hollywood shopping mall after the article was got publicised. He faced many other problems as well and perhaps this is a reason why Pacquiao came out to clear his name after a 24-hour avalanche of criticism from all over the world.

Pacquiao, more commonly known as Pac-Man, while apologising to the guy community insisted that he has no issues with them and he only said that he is not in the favour of same-sex marriage.

Pacquiao said he loves and supports gays and lesbians but he does not approve of a marital relation between the same-sex.

The boxer attempted to clarify his comments on his website, writing, “I’m not against gay people… We can’t help it if they were born that way. What I’m critical off (sic) are actions that violate the word of God. I only gave out my opinion that same sex marriage is against the law of God.”

The boxer said, “To the gay community, I apologize. I’m against same-sex marriage, but I’m not condemning you. My favorite (biblical) verse is ’Love one another as you love yourself. Love your neighbour.’ So I love everybody!”

Well, all said and done, Pacquiao also spoke out against birth control during his political career, affirming his Roman Catholic faith.

The Filipino boxing’s best will be seen in the ring against the undefeated American prospect Timothy Bradley on Jun9 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.
