Shahid Kapoor says he won’t take any digs while hosting IIFA
Friday, May 18th, 2012 4:50:39 by Imran Shaukat KhanBollywood actor Shahid Kapoor will be the one hosting the International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) awards, which will take place from June 7 to 9 in Singapore and he is pretty excited about it. However, the 31-year-old has insisted that he will not take any digs at anyone since he believes sometimes people don’t like such things.
Kapoor told the media that he doesn’t like the part in which the host gets personal with someone.
“I think it is possible to entertain and make people laugh without taking digs. People get very personal.. .I don’t like that part of hosting,” he said.
He added, “Just because the mike is in your hand, it doesn’t mean you can say anything. It is important to crack jokes, but not in that way.”
The IIFA awards were earlier hosted by Riteish Deshmukh and Boman Irani.
Kapoor while commenting on the actors said that he was impressed by their work but on the same note he remarked that he will host the show in his own way.
“Riteish and Boman did a good job. Even Ranbir and Imran were funny while hosting Filmfare awards. Everyone has their own way to entertain and I have my own,” said Shahid, who had earlier hosted Filmfare awards along with Shah Rukh Khan.
In the meantime, Shahid was asked if wants to be an entertainer like Salman Khan, on which handsome hunk of the industry passed on a flattering statement saying that there is only Salman Khan and no one else out there can be like him.
“I don’t think anybody can be Salman Khan. And I don’t think anybody should try and be like him. There is only one Salman Khan and I am sure he is not trying to be like someone else,” he said.
Well, all said and done, there is not much time left in the awards so let’s see how Shahid entertains the audiences.
