Google Chrome becomes the most used web browser, recent stats show – Part 3

We had toolbars and then we had Chrome. Chrome is a huge contributor to actually lowering TAC. It’s not a static environment. It’s a very dynamic environment. And mobile is nascent.”
This, on the other hand, does not bode well for Microsoft, who are taking the matter quite lightly. Even though the company the company owns one of the most used platforms in the world, Windows, it has a serious threat from Google on web browsing, which is becoming more and more readily used service, in terms of social interaction, entertainment, infotainment and business.
MS needs to pay heed to the underlying matter. Internet Explorer is the gateway to most of the apps and services owned and operated by the company and integrating Windows with it will bear many fruits.
Microsoft has integrated most of its services like Live updates with IE 9 and has made it more generic. This shows that the company has the plan sheet in the war chest.
Its main focus is on the following:
– Traffic to Bing.
– Toolbars to drive usage to its other services.
– A say HTML and standards.
– A primary vehicle to highlight Windows 8 Metro apps.
– Ultimately integration with Office 365 and promoting Microsoft services.
Since Google has revamped its advertisement strategy and boosted the budget for Chrome, Microsoft is also taking steps to bring its web browser to the centre stage. However, as Google has revved up its ‘engine’ to wage war on the biggest competitor in the market, Microsoft will certainly have the hardest time to claim back the throne.
