Electronic music is believed to be invented by an American Robert Arthur ‘Bob’ Moog, who cooked up the idea of giving a new feel to music.
He invented the Moog synthesizer, which revolutionized the music industry back then. In the memory of great pioneer of the music, Google is giving a musical tribute to the Moog by displaying a synthesizer on its homepage.
Google has come out with the doodle in order to wish Robert Moog’s his 78th birthday. The synthesizer allows users to click the keys and make their own music. It even allows users to play with the settings of the keyboard to compose different melodies.
A record button is also available, so that the users can record and playback their compositions.
Moog was born on the same day (May 23) in 1934 . He suffered from a glioblastoma multiforme brain tumour and died in 2005 when he was 71. Today is Moog’s 78th birthday.
Moog synthesizer was indeed a great innovation, which inspired a lot and paved a way for numerous synthesizers afterwards. Today the most modern and complicated gadget is available in the market but the real credit goes to Moog, who actually laid down the foundation of electronic music.
He was a graduate in Physics and also earned a Ph.D. in engineering physics from Cornell University. For his exceptional deeds, he received many awards including honorary doctorates.
His contribution to the music was also remembered with a Special Merit/Technical Grammy Award and an honorary doctorate degree from Berkley College of Music. He received a Grammy Trustees Award in 1970.
