After ‘Department’ failure RGV says he doesn’t want to see Sunjay Dutt’s face
Thursday, May 24th, 2012 4:02:01 by Imran Shaukat KhanRam Gopal Varma’s film ‘Department’, which was released on May 18, has sunk at the box office without any trace and RGV has blamed Sunjay Dutt for the film’s failure.
During the shooting of the film, there were many noises in the air that both Varma and Dutt were at loggerheads. Though during the media interactions both denied, the failure of the film has brought the differences out in open.
RGV while reacting to the film’s failure stated that he had a harrowing time working with Sunjay Dutt and he doesn’t want to see his face for the rest of his life. The director explained that Dutt forced him to do a lot of things which he never wanted to do.
“Whatever else happening to Department I am supremely happy that I don’t want to see the faces of Sanjay Dutt and Dharam Oberoi (CEO of Sanjay Dutt Productions) for the rest of my life,” Varma wrote on Twitter.
“From forcing me to take Kangana (Kangana Ranaut) out of the film to constantly cornering me to change screenplay, I had the most horrible time working with Dutt,” Varma said.
“If Dutt and Oberoi think I am the bad in Department lets wait for Zilla Ghaziabad and Soham’s film where I am not there to spoil their creative inputs,” Varma said.
In the meantime, Dutt has put everything on RGV’s shoulders. The actor said he told Varma not to use 5D cameras for the film but he didn’t listen.
Dutt told Mumbai Mirror: “I have been in the industry for 32 years and I know which cameras are suitable and which are not. But ab kya karen? Jo ho gaya so ho gaya. But yes, I really don’t know at this point of time if I want to work with Ramu again.”
As per the report, ‘Department’, which featured the likes of Amitabh Bachchan, Sanjay Dutt and Rana Dagubatti, was made at a budget of Rs 30 crore but it has collected only Rs 7 crore thus far at the box office.
