Boglarka Kapas and Katinka Hosszu won gold medals of the Women’s 800m freestyle and 200m Individual Medley (IM) at the European Long Course Championships.
Boglarka spoiled the party of her challengers in the distant freestyle event. With her persistent efforts in the sixteen-lap discipline, she remained comfortably ahead of her opponents and ensured her top finish on the podium for gold medal by clocking a
time of 8 minutes and 26.49 seconds.
The champion was trailed by Coralie Balmy, who stayed one body length slower from her foregoing swimmer and stepped on the medal rostrum for silver medal by clocking a time of 8 minutes and 27.79 seconds.
The second position holder was followed by Eva Risztov, who stayed slightly behind her and emerged on the finishing end for bronze medallist by posting a time of 8 minutes and 27.87 seconds.
Following that, Hosszu occupied gold medal of the 200m IM. She stayed nearly half body length ahead of her closest competitor and hit the finishing end for the title of the event by producing a time of 2 minutes and 10.84 seconds.
The gold medallist was trailed by Sophie Allen, who remained 0.65 seconds slower and stepped on the victory stand for silver medal by reporting a time of 2 minutes and 11.49 seconds.
The second position holder was traced by Evelyn Verraszto, who was just 0.14 seconds apart and sprinted her way towards the finishing wall with the timing of 2 minutes and 11.63 seconds.
On the other hand, Daniel Gyurta dominated the final of Men’s 200m breaststroke. Gyurta stayed considerably ahead of his opponents and pocketed gold medal of the event with the timing of 2 minutes and 08.60 seconds.
The champion was chased by Marco Koch, who remained nearly 0.60 seconds apart and earned his way to the medal rostrum for silver medal by producing a nice time of 2 minutes and 09.26 seconds.
Similarly, third spot of the race was obtained by Panagiotis Samilidis, who stayed nearly half second slower from outsmarting his former finisher and touched the wall with a wonderful timing of 2 minutes and 09.72 seconds.
Furthermore, the championship will end on May 27 after the completion of all swimming events.
