Karachi: (Monday, May 28, 2012) President Asif Ali Zardari, reacting upon the unending incidents of target killing and street crimes in Karachi, has directed the authorities to form a joint task force of intelligence and law enforcement
agencies to better curb the crimes and ensure protection of the citizens. The president also ordered a crackdown operation against the criminals in Sindh.
President Zardari took these actions after being briefed by the officials over law and order situation in Sindh province, particularly in Karachi, during a meeting at Bilawal House.
The apex level meeting was attended by Governor Sindh Dr Ishratul Ebad, Chief Minister Sindh Qaim Ali Shah and Federal Ministers Maula Bux Chandio, Makhdoom Amin Fahim, Syed Naveed Qamar and Syed Khursheed Shah. Upon conclusion,
the participants of the meeting agreed to form a committee to look into the matters related to law and order situation in the province. Senior officials of Police, Rangers and Intelligence agencies also marked their presence in the meeting.
Expressing his concerns over the increasing weapon proliferation in the city, the president inquired the police officials about the routes through which weapons in such large quantity are coming in the city. President Zardari lamented
that despite availability of all the resources, the law and order situation of the city was still worst.
During the meeting, briefings were given by the Chief Minister Sindh, Director General (DG) Rangers, Inspector General (IG) Police Sindh and officials of the intelligence agencies.
Expressing his concern, the president particularly gave directions to the police, rangers and concerned departments for detailed investigation into Lyari operation, increasing incidents of target killing and firing on Sindh Muhabbat
rally along with similar incidents in Nawabshah.
