Syrians have the key to a peaceful outcome, says General Mood

Norway’s General Robert Mood is the person responsible for negotiating a truce in war-ravaged Syria. The Norwegian was made the head of UN’s supervision mission in Syria on April 21, 2012 after the UN Security Council passed a resolution.
When asked by journalists if Damascus is rightfully blamed for the Hula massacre, Mood said that it’s more of a blame game being played by both parties.
“I only say one thing: whoever they are, those who started, those who responded and those who contributed to such a deplorable act of violence, must be held accountable because it is an indiscriminate and disproportionate use of force against civilians.”
Mood then revealed that the UN observers collected testimonies of locals who witnessed the heinous atrocities committed that left 108 people dead out of which 49 were children and 24 were women.
Asking for UN observers to cover all potential battlegrounds in Syria would be an unrealistic and impractical measure and Mood feels that it falls on the international community and the Security Council to make it look realistic.
Easier said than done, but it necessarily falls on the Syrian government and opposition to seize this opportunity and show their commitment to stop this violence that has destroyed the country in every way imaginable.
