Mac Rumours: Apple expected to release Mac OS X Mountain Lion at June 11 WWDC
Monday, May 28th, 2012 6:51:24 by Usman KhalidApple’s infamous Worldwide Developers’ Conference is inching near its commencement date and the company is surrounded by all kinds of rumours. From iPhone to iOS to Mac OS X Mountain Lion, everything is being covered by anonymous sources.
In latest events, the WWDC is touted to be big event for the upcoming OS X from Apple. The Mountain Lion is expected to take centre stage at the event showing off new features for Mac devices.
The new operating system’s developers’ version was released earlier this year and it showed a number of improvements in the code. A slew of new multi-gestures are introduced to the desktop OS while the outlook has been reinforced to look a lot like iOS. The earlier claims from tech pundits that Apple might be on the run to merge both iOS and Mac OS X into one platform seems to be gaining some credibility.
Not only the outlook has been changed but the company has also introduced apps like notifications, calendar and others, found in iOS 4 and iOS 5, to the new operating system. In addition, it is rumoured that Apple might also introduce iCloud-based online sales feature to the new OS X. Though it is not activated yet, WWDC is expected to be the stage to do so. With this feature, users will be able to sell multiple items through the single iCloud account, something that has been seen in iOS 5.
The new operating system will also summon Siri-like dictation software, but Siri itself. The new feature was found by Apple maestros in the developers’ edition of the OS that might also have a dedicated launch button. Though it will not work like Siri but might be able to do most of its work.
There are many companies that are not big fans of Siri. That includes IBM. The company resents the way commands are uploaded to Apple’s servers and then decoded to bring up the action. This has a potential for saving those commands that mostly have contacts spoken into them. IBM has block Siri on their intranet and the same may follow in case of Mac OS X’s dictation software.
