PML-N vows to defend court’s verdicts
Monday, May 28th, 2012 11:41:37 by Faisal FarooqPresident Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Nawaz Sharif has put his weight behind the Supreme Court in an apparent confrontation between the judiciary and the executive.
While speaking to media, the two-time former prime minister said that the PML-N would not allow the ruling Pakistan Peoples’ Party (PPP) to violate the constitution and make a mockery of court’s judgments.
He said that everyone was bound to show respect to the judiciary and implement its rulings with letter and spirit. However, the rulers had made it habit to violate every law of the land, he added.
The policy of the rulers was to indulge in large-scale corruption and victimization of the people; he said adding that Pakistan had never witnessed issues of electricity and gas load shedding at such scale.
Many issues might have been resolved by now if the rulers shown some seriousness and commitment to address the crises, he added.
The PML-N leader said that his party will put the country on the path of development and prosperity whenever it comes to the power, adding that this task was being done by Chief Minister Punjab Shahbaz Sharif in the province.
Praising Shahbaz Sharif for launching a number of welfare projects in Punjab, he said his younger brother was working day and night to reduce the problems of the people.
The president of his own faction urged the masses to not get depressed by the existing state of affairs, saying that they would soon get rid of the ruling PPP to start an era of development and prosperity in the country.
He did not miss lashing out at his al-time favorite topic, Pervez Musharraf, saying the former president was accorded with guard of honor when he left the presidency and nobody had dare to hold him accountable.
He observed, “We should hold responsible ourselves instead of passing the buck. We should not be complaining of Baloch being rebels.”
Lamenting that there was no benefit of Balochistan package, he said the previous practices should not be repeated.
