to cover for fuel adjustment charges.
It has been learnt by the NEPRA authorities that this recent increase will be deemed effect from April 2012.
Earlier, forwarding the proposal, the Central Power Purchasing Agency (CCPA) had proposed a raise of Rs 2 per unit.
Proposing for the increase in tariff, the CCPA maintained that electricity production had been low in the month of April 2012 and the increase in the gas prices compelled it to raise the electricity tariff by 60 paisas per unit.
With the present increase prices, average cost of the electricity stands around Rs 13 per unit.
