Microsoft asks Google to remove links
Tuesday, May 29th, 2012 6:48:34 by Farasat AliEvery six months Google updates its Transparency Report. In the meanwhile it becomes clear which countries or entities have been asked to withdraw a specific content or to close access to a service. It also indicates if the requests
are specific or intended to be extended in time.
However, the last issue that Google are facing is that they have added a new category of copyright, which provides details that which companies or organizations have requested the removal of links pointing to content protected
by copyright. However, it only includes content downloads except images, videos from YouTube Blogger and posts.
The update provides the details of the movements from July 2011 to May 21. The search engine removes 97% of the links at the request of their owners. On average, they receive 250,000 requests a week.
It is noteworthy that Microsoft is the company that has processed requests, with 8,134, to disappear 2,569,082 links pointing to content of interest. The figures for the last month have indicated approx 507,320 links.
Furthermore, NBC Universal, which fits more to be a creative audiovisual content, is set to withdrawal 1,025,759 links. Then comes BPI (British Recorded Music Industry), the union of the British record, followed by Elegant Angel,
a producer of adult content on DVD.
