Islamabad: (Monday, May 28, 2012) Minister for Interior Rehman Malik here today said that Pakistan has rendered great many sacrifices in the war against terrorism and that the International Community should acknowledge this huge
contribution in this regard.
Malik said this while talking to his counterpart from the UK Theresa May, who had a meeting with the federal minister in London according to the sources over here.
Malik, sharing details of the meeting, said that he raised up issues like elimination of terrorism, human trafficking, eradication of narcotics, visa issues of overseas Pakistanis, border management and improving performance of
Pakistan police and law and order agencies through training.
Highlighting the joint work and cooperation between Pakistan and the UK against terrorism, Malik wished for it to continue in the future.
Regarding training and capacity building of Pakistani police, Malik said that the UK has committed its assistance in improving performance of Pakistan Police. Federal minister for interior said that during the meeting, he also
raised the issue of Pakistanis’ prisoners in UK jails.
Acknowledging Pakistan’s efforts and contribution in war against terror, Theresa May appreciated Pakistan’s role. She said that UK was also working with Pakistan on illegal immigration and forced marriage.
