Hyundai Genesis Coupe 3.8 R-Spec: A full review – Part 2
Tuesday, May 29th, 2012 6:22:55 by Usman KhalidThe hood of the car houses a 3.8-litre V6 direct-injection engine that unleashes 348 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque, about 42 horses and 29 pound-feet torque more than the last iteration. This much power accounts for 10 pounds per horsepower, a hair above Nissan 350Z that has a power to weight ratio of 9 pounds per hp.
This herd of the 348 horses takes the R-Spec from dead-stop to 60 miles per hours in 5.2 seconds, which is fast and is at par with the new Ford Mustang Track and 2012 Chevy Camaro.
With the engine is nestled a six-speed manual gear-box that has been dramatically improved over the course of one year. However, as with last year’s Genesis, this one also has only one option and that is this manual gear box. However, clutch system helps minimize the hassle down to a near automatic transmission experience.
The new outside is a little different t at the sides but the main difference in the front grille. Though it is attractive and gives a very sporty look to the vehicle, which is really is. But it also resembles the Renault-like façade that is extremely un-sporty and not much people like the French brand.
This trim level loses Xenon HID headlamps for normal incandescent bulbs. Moreover, wing mirrors also get deprived of the indicators and heating system to keep them from getting foggy in misty and cold weather.
Cabin Luxury
If the hood and what’s underneath is the pay off in this coupe then the innards are somewhat a downsize to the more luxurious Mustangs and 350Zs. Though you get the standards as power assistance in steering wheel and windows and mirrors and Air/Con, there are certain thing that you will have to compromise in order to have speed in a very affordable manner. There is a stereo with six audio outlets and Bluetooth connectivity but in the contemporary age these are all standard issues.
