Hyundai Genesis Coupe 3.8 R-Spec: A full review – Part 3

The front gauge panel has the speedometer and RPM dials with attractive blue linings. The steering wheel has buttons for audio launch and radio tuner. The dashboard contains Air/Con vents and three dials that are new.

Hyundai is so confident in their new engine that they have provided the driver with three gauges for fuel consumption, torque and oil pressure. However, they are so low that first impression is that they are for the passenger and not for the driver because they might be a cause for an accident. That leaves them for just show-off and they do exactly that as the car sneaks through corners.

The middle area of the vents has the stereo system that has the basic necessities covered like Bluetooth connectivity, auxiliary and USB inputs. There is one CD capacity to play from optical medium. It also has both AM/FM and satellite-based XM radio options. The sound comes out from six speakers spread all over the car. Though the audio reproduction is great for a standard system, the car lacks the premium audio system that most of its siblings have pre-installed.

The audio system connects to the phones like Android or iOS devices seamlessly. However, the pun in this is that Hyundai system syncs the phonebooks in a very awkward way for voice commands. It stores the metadata file of phonebook by reciprocating first and last names. This gets funny when you say the voice command to dial a specific person’s name.

To connect iPod or iPhone, the owner will have to pay extra to get an Apple converter to fix to the USB but that is worth every penny.

Conclusion

The new 2013 Genesis Coupe 3.8 R-Spec is one good car to ride, especially in the corners. The slow speeds are a little tricky to handle but in fast lanes it never hassles up. The audio is a turnoff but it provides the basic facilities in a very generous manner.
