Ozzy Osbourne: I didn’t know that we were the forefathers of metal

The 63-year-old musician rose to prominence as the lead singer of Black Sabbath in 1969. The Englishman is widely known as ‘Prince of Darkness’ due
to his dark and hard sound.
In a recent interview, the Black Sabbath vocalist revealed that he did not know that they were the forefathers of metal.
“I didn’t know we were the forefathers of metal. When I used to do Ozzfest I hadn’t realized we had such an impact on the young bands. I’m proud of that alone. I wasn’t aware for a long time. I thought everyone was just taking it easy, you know?”
Apart from Black Sabbath, Osbourne has performed with many other bands and solo artist. The talented singer has worked with Black Label Society, Alice Copper, Rob Zombie, Iommi, Slash and Firewind.
In addition, following his dismissal from Black Sabbath in 1979, Osbourne started his solo project along with his future wife, Sharon Arden, and has thus far released 10 studio albums with ‘Scream’ being the latest to hit the stores in 2010.
