Shah Rukh Khan refuses to be called as the ‘Baadshah of Cricket’
Wednesday, May 30th, 2012 3:28:27 by Imran Shaukat KhanIndian actor Shah Rukh Khan is often referred to as the ‘King of Bollywood’ but many out have now started to call him ‘Baadshah of Cricket’ since his Indian Premier League team Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) have won the IPL-5 trophy.
However, the 46-year-old superstar has requested people not to call him the ‘Baadshah of Cricket’ because he believes the entire credit for the win goes to the team.
SRK, who co-owned KKR with actress Juhi Chawla, insisted that all the hard work was put in by the players and therefore they deserve all of the appreciation and not him.
“The team’s badshah is our CEO Venky (Mysore), Jai (Mehta) and of course the whole cricket team. It would be wrong for us to take any credit for the win, me or Juhi (Chawla),” Shah Rukh said night after his return from Kolkata.
“We go there (on the field), pray to god and we love our team. But we don’t work hard like the team. I can’t take the credit from them and call myself the badshah of cricket,” he added.
KKR outplayed Chennai Super Kings in the finals to lift their maiden IPL trophy and their win was celebrated by the Chef Minister of the West Bengal Mamata Banerjee along with the Governor. Each player received many gifts including a 10 gram gold chain.
Along with Shah Rukh Khan, Juhi Chawla also participated in the victory parade, which was held at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata in the team’s honour.
Juhi shared his thought with the media. The actress remarked that she feels like winning the world.
Juhi said: “We haven’t slept for two days, we were going crazy with happiness. First, there was celebration in Chennai, then next day there was a big celebration in Kolkata. It’s been huge and overwhelming, it felt like we have won the world.”
