The EU mobile operators castrate the VoIP

“More than 20% and potentially 50%” is the percentage of the Europeans connected mobile Internet services that have blocked VoIP (like Skype) or P2P file sharing. 

In the case of fixed broadband services, restrictions are applied on P2P at peak times when it is more used. It may affect 95% of consumers in one country, although it is unclear about the details.

The vice president of the European Union Neelie Kroes will stop this situation with a set of recommendations to ensure. Her decision comes a year after the Commissioner’s own request to demand a report to BEREC, the umbrella
organization for all European telecom regulators, including the CMT.

"She wants to provide freedom of consumer choice and net neutrality. Kroes will not regulate the sector, forcing operators to "provide full Internet" because she does not want to create barriers in the way of
entrepreneurs. But if you want consumers to be aware of what they get by hiring these services and also what they’re missing. The recommendations will further facilitate the change of operator and supply, both fixed and mobile services and Internet
connection.

The objective of these proceedings is that Europeans know the actual speed of their broadband connections.
