Manny Pacquiao promises of a fan-pleasing show against Timothy Bradley
Thursday, May 31st, 2012 12:42:38 by Imran Shaukat KhanThe eight-division world champion and the current WBO welterweight champion, Manny Pacquiao, has promised that he will do something special for his fans this time.
The Filipino star, also known as Pac-Man, will lock horns with Timothy Bradley, the current WBO light-welterweight champion, on June 9 at the MGM Grand Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada and he wants to erase the taste of his narrow victory over Juan Manuel Marquez in November last year.
“It’s really important because, of course, everybody knows my last fight was very close,” Pacquiao.
Bradley has talked a lot in the last week but Pacquiao, who holds a record of winning 54 of his 59 professional fights (2 draws), with 38 of his wins coming by the way of a knockout, is completely unnerved with the noises from Bradley’s side.
Pacquiao said “We have a strategy to avoid Bradley’s punches.”
“This is like my first fight all over again. To beat the champion you’ve got to take it to the champion,” Bradley said last week.
He added, “We are setting out to win this fight and not sit around and look pretty. I am going to take it to Pacquiao.”
Pacquiao’s ‘Hall of Fame’ trainer, Freddie Roach, commented on the fight as well.
The undefeated American prospect, Bradley, holds a record of winning all of his 29 professional fights (1 no contest), with 12 of his wins coming by the way of a knockout. He is also rated among the top-ten best pound-for-pound fighters in the world by many websites out there. Therefore, Roach admitted that it will not be a cake walk for his man.
“I think the way Bradley is going to come forward and force a fight, we’re going to see a great Pacquiao,” Roach said. “Bradley’s a tough guy, very resilient. But being a tough guy doesn’t win fights.”
Well, all said and done, there is not much time left now in the fight. So let’s see if Pacquiao can really shrug off a confident Bradley in the ring.
