Chief Minister Balochistan Nawab Aslam Raisani, who is famous for his laughers, uttered another statement saying that his province was a peaceful one and the law and order situation in Balochistan was not that bad

Talking to the media after the missing persons case hearing the Chief Minister observed, “The court did not summon me, I came on my own. My province is a peaceful one with a few glitches here and there. The overall law and order situation is not that bad”.

Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry while hearing the missing persons’ case expressed annoyance over the lack of concern on the part of officials. He directed Inspector General (IG) Frontier Corps (FC) Balochistan Major General Obaidullah Khan to return to the country within 24 hours.

During the course of hearing, the defiant Chief Justice remarked that a case should be registered against the IG FC. The three-member bench was further irked as Attorney General Irfan Qadir didn’t show up in the court.

The CJ noted, “Balochistan is a part of Pakistan and resented the fact that Balochistan Home Minister Zafarullah Zehri “just stays in Islamabad. Bodies of three people whose cases were being heard in the court have been found”.

During the hearing, Chief Justice Iftikhar said three people had been picked up since the proceedings began, adding that, bodies of three others, whose cases were being heard, were found in the province.

He added, “What could be a grosser violation of the law that those men that the authorities had been ordered to recover were killed”.

Referring to provincial minister Mir Sadiq Ali Umrani’s statement, who had said that the FC was in the killing o involved f people, Justice Khilji Arif said that certain elements were trying to frighten the court.

He asserted, “We are aware that lives law enforcement personnel were also being lost, however it does not empower anyone to take the law in their own hands”.

Earlier on Wednesday, Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry warned Prime Minister Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani, saying that if he did not take steps to improve the law and order situation in the province, the Constitution would declare a state of emergency.
