LG Optimus 3D Max (2012): A Full Review – Part 2
Saturday, June 2nd, 2012 2:20:45 by Usman KhalidThe spine is made of faux-metallic material which gives a good feel but the buttons are very shallow to judge and use. The right side has a 2D/3D toggle button while the other side has flimsy volume buttons and a micro-USB/charger port that is covered with a slider that looks cool to use. Above the phone is a power On/Off and sleep button and 3.5mm headset jack. The company provides with a set of ear-buds that are a bit oversized but offer good quality of sound. Beneath the phone is a microphone pinhole. The camera app can be launched by going to the 3D menu that kicks in by 2D/3D toggle button.
The front side sports a 4.3-inch WVGA touch-screen Gorilla Glass display that is clocked at 480×800 pixel resolution. For a screen this size, the resolution somewhat lags behind the competition, throw in the 3D factor. However, the screen has a vivid and colourful display.
The rear end has two 5-mega pixel cameras that are optimal at use. They capture decent videos in both 2D and 3D modes. There is an LED flash support right in the middle of the twin cameras.
The bottom right corner of the phone holds two cuts that are kept open for speakers to throw sound outside.
Operating System and Features
The phone comes with Google’s mobile operating system, Gingerbread 2.3, which is old as compared to the latest and greatest Ice Cream Sandwich, or Android 4.0. The company has announced that the ICS update will be released soon, but for the time being users will have to make do with older version.
It has become habitual of LG to release handsets with older versions of Android. The competition is rising on the ICS front and LG is still stuck at Gingerbread.
