Akshay Kumar overjoyed with the success of ‘Rowdy Rathore’
Monday, June 4th, 2012 12:07:11 by Imran Shaukat KhanBollywood actor Akshay Kumar returned to the action genre after almost a gap of seven years with ‘Rowdy Rathore’, which was recently released on June 1. The film, which was directed by Prabhu Deva, did an excellent business at the box office since it earned Rs 29.8 crore on the first two days and Akshay is elated with public response.
The original ‘Khiladi’ of the Indian film industry expressed his feelings with the media. The actor, who started his career with action films before taking a break to star in romantic, comedy and dramas, believes that an actor should do all kind of movies.
“When I used to do action movies earlier, everyone used to say I am doing a lot of them. These are nothing but mood swings of the audience. What I have learnt is one should do everything from comedy to action, romantic to negative roles. There should be balance in everything,” Akshay said.
Akshay, now 44, insisted that he went to some cinemas houses and he was amazed to see the response from the audiences.
“We went to a few cinema houses and saw people dancing in theatres, whistling and having fun. It feels great to see this kind of response. I heard that in Rajasthan about eight lakh Rajput Rathores, dressed in traditional avatar, are all set to watch the film together,” Akshay said.
Meanwhile, the actor remarked that he is not worried even if he doesn’t get any award for his film.
“It is a big thing for me. Even if I don’t get an award it’s ok, but it is this reward that makes me happy,” he said.
‘Rowdy Rathore’, which is a remake of Telugu film ‘Vikramarkudu’, featured Akshay Kumar in the lead role along with the ‘Dabangg’ actress Sonakshi Sinha.
Well, all said and done, after seeing at the film’s response, it is fair to say that it has all the hallmarks of earning Rs 100 crore at the box office.
