Gaming World: What Apple has in store to capture its new target? – Part 1
Monday, June 4th, 2012 6:42:57 by Usman KhalidApple has never been at the centre-stage of any expos. It organizes its own conferences and shows like Worldwide Developers’ Conference, WWDC. However, despite their lack of presence at events like Consumer Electronics Show (CES) and Mobile World Congress (MWC) it has always been there virtually.
Every vendor, every developer is always coping with the moves that either Apple has made or are anticipated of the company. Either way, Apple has always been a threat to the likes of Microsoft, Google, and they are always trying to think ahead of the Cupertino-based organization.
These companies are always on the run to match up with every Apple product, be it MacBook Air, iPhone, iPad or even iPod. Now that Apple has hinted at a number of occasions that a new television will be out soon, not Apple TV but actual television with a screen, these companies are having nightmares, especially Google, who has invested in Google TV, or G-series.
Apple’s intervention in all these markets might be nagging to others but from users’ end these devices are always welcome as they make life easier and more enjoyable. Let it be MacBook Air or iPad, connectivity has now been transformed into mobile computing.
The E3 fair is about to kick start in Los Angeles this Monday. This is one particular event that has not come in Apple’s crosshairs. Apple has said it on many occasions that gaming is not their field of interest and yet App Store is hoarded by games like Angry Birds and Fruit Ninga, and that is only the lowest tier of games ‘in store’.
However, the latest statement from Apple CEO Tim Cook at All Things D, “I view that we’re in gaming now in a big way”, is enough to give creeps to the likes of Japanese companies like Sony and Nintendo, who were so far safe from Apple’s radiations.
